Jordan Pond is one of the most iconic and scenic locations in Acadia National Park, located on Mount Desert Island in Maine. This pristine, clear glacial lake is surrounded by lush forests and framed by the distinctive North and South Bubble mountains, making it a favorite spot for visitors.

BEST LOCATIONS TO ELOPE IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
- OCEAN -

The Ocean Path Trail in Acadia National Park is a scenic coastal trail that offers stunning views of the park's rugged coastline, dramatic cliffs, and the Atlantic Ocean. Stretching for about 4 miles round trip, the trail runs from Sand Beach to Otter Point, passing several iconic landmarks along the way.

BEST MOUNTAINS TO ELOPE IN MAINE

HIKING
CADILLAC NORTH RIDGE TRAIL
This 4.2 mile trail is a scenic and moderately challenging hike that leads to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on the eastern seaboard of the United States. This trail offers stunning views and a rewarding climb.

DRIVING
If you want to drive up to Cadillac Mountain instead of hiking you will need to make a vehicle Summit Road Reservation and show your Acadia National Park park pass.

FAQS ABOUT ELOPING ON TOP OF CADILLAC MOUNTAIN:
- If you have more than 10 guests for your elopement you will need a permit and pay a $50 fee May 25 through Oct 22. 
- 30 guest max 
- Ceremonies are prohibited during sunrise and sunset
 

BEST STATE PARKS TO ELOPE IN MAINE

CHIMNEY POND TRAIL
The 6.3 mile out and back trail features a classic glacial bowl with pristine mountain ponds as it gently ascends through hardwood forest eventually offering glimpses of the north basin.

SENTINEL MOUNTAIN
Sentinel Mountain is a 5.7 mile out and back trail accessed via the Kidney Pond Campground in Baxter State Park, Maine, offers a moderately challenging hike with rewarding views of the surrounding wilderness. The trail is less crowded than some of the park's more popular routes, making it an excellent choice for those seeking solitude in nature.

SANDY STREAM POND TRAIL TO RUSSELL POND TRAIL
This trail is a 2.5 mile out hike. This trail offers a scenic journey through the park's serene wilderness, making it a great option for those looking to experience the tranquility and natural beauty of the area.

GRASSY POND LOOP TRAIL
The Grassy Pond Loop Trail is a 2.7 mile out and back trail in Baxter State Park, Maine, offers hikers a peaceful and scenic experience through the park's diverse landscapes. It's a relatively easy trail, making it suitable for families and those looking for a relaxed hike.

EAST SPUR OVERLOOK AND HORSE MOUNTAIN VIA HORSE MOUNTAIN
This 3.3 mile trail has a steady climb that does not get too steep at any point. The trail also has good footing and is not very rocky. This is a good hike for families looking to hike in this part of the park.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO ELOPE IN MAINE:

MARRIAGE LICENSE
To get married in Maine you need to obtain a marriage license from a town clerk’s office. This can be done in any town, regardless of where you plan to marry in the state. Bring valid ID, fill out the necessary forms, and pay the $40 fee and you're all set! The license is valid for 90 days.

CHOOSE A LOCATION
Maine has numerous state parks, each offering unique landscapes for an elopement. Choose a location that fits your vision, whether it's a mountaintop, oceanside, lakeside or forest setting.
Park Rules: Each park may have specific rules regarding ceremonies. Contact the park office or visit their website to understand any regulations, fees, or restrictions.

PERMITS
In order to get married in Acadia National Park you will need to get a special use permit if your elopement has a guest count of more than 10 people. Permits are not required if weddings are less than 10 people as long as you follow Leave No Trace and restricted guidelines.

OFFICIANT
Who Can Officiate: In Maine a lawyer, justice or judge or public notary (residents only) ordained minister or religious cleric can marry you (resident + non residents).
